About this deal

I just finished the audiobook and listened to the last chapter multiple times to see if I’d missed something. The Woman in the Library is an unexpectedly twisty literary adventure that examines the complicated nature of friendship – and shows that words can be the most treacherous weapons of all. Either way, I highly recommend reading this if you love a good murder mystery done in one of the most original ways I’ve ever read in my life. Littrell voices subtly different accents for all the American characters and an Australian accent for both Hannah and the fictitious Winifred.

It must be said, the relationships which develop between them are the most enjoyable elements of Gentill’s novel in my opinion, and add a humanistic quality to the story as friendships and romance come into play within the plot. While they wait for the all-clear, four strangers, who'd happened to sit at the same table, pass the time in conversation and friendships are struck. The mystery element was intriguing and I found myself pleasantly surprised with the way both the stories progressed. And so Sulari became the author of the Rowland Sinclair Mysteries: thus far, ten historical crime novels chronicling the life and adventures of her 1930s Australian gentleman artist, the Hero Trilogy, based on the myths and epics of the ancient world, and the Ned Kelly Award winning Crossing the Lines (published in the US as After She Wrote Hime).

one that will bond these four strangers and turn them into fast friends, when they discover that the scream that they heard, was of a woman being murdered, and that they are now each other’s alibis. what really ruined the book is the additional plot of someone corresponding with the author of the story (this is a story within a story within a story). When they hear the scream, the four are sitting at the same table at the library, surreptitiously studying each other. A chance scream in a library, the place you’re meant to be at your quietest, throws four total strangers together who quickly form a close bond of friendship.

Whilst initially seeming harmless and helpful, offering an alternative word to use or providing support describing a location (as Hannah is not a local in Boston), he appears to be a friendly nitpicker, however, as time goes on, he becomes overly critical and overbearing.
