Since I haven't found an Instructable of this project here, I thought I will give it a try for my first time. The masking helped to keep the light fitting stable and prevented the tiles from moving around too much. The actual assembly of the light itself was fine, once I realised there was only one way round the pieces could go. Don’t let well-meaning electricians touch brand new, all-white light or cords with freshly sootted fingers. IKEA takes product safety very seriously and all products are tested and comply with the strictest possible laws and safety standards on all IKEA markets.
It is a main component in a large amount of our products and has a wide variety of applications from surface materials such as paint and foil, to screws and shelf pegs. Quite fiddly to put up and very annoying to dust, but if you can deal with this, you'll have a great lamp for a kids room or an interesting talking piece for somewhere else. I used bigger bits of masking tape for the vertical and circular (trench) of the death star and smaller randomly placed strips to create sections of the death star.

Although it looks good you can see the centre black trench line has run under the masking tpae and looks a bit thin.Definitely need more explanation of installation and also specify that it takes 2 people to put up as you need more than 2 hands to hold, hook, pull cord and screw.

Verified Reviewer Easy enough to assemble but two of the pieces overlap each other when opening and closing so always have to give it a nudge to get it to close. I got this as a birthday present from my friends and I think the guy who painted it, made a great job.There is a lot of valid concern regarding how plastic impacts the environment and at IKEA we take this very seriously. I have a mint green one, and after assembling it and hanging it I realised it’d look cooler if the mint green bits were copper or something.
