About this deal

The Tilt feature is purely based on Keith McMillen Instrument‘s Smart Sensor technology and provides extreme levels of sensitivity to your finger pressure. The Keith McMillen lineup should be familiar: QuNeo and QuNexus have been around for the better part of the last decade. And while these amazing controllers were flexible coming right out of the gate, in 2021 KMI upgraded these designs to the QuNeo Red and QuNexus Red: MPE-capable versions of these modern classic designs. In addition to its MIDI capabilities, the QuNexus can also be connected to modular synthesizers via the gate, three CV outputs, and two CV inputs. With the ability to assign these connections using the QuNexus editor, compatible with both Windows and MacOS, you have full control over your sound and can create unique and dynamic compositions. Its compact size and powerful capabilities make it the perfect companion for music creation on the go. Get your hands on the QuNexus today and take your music to new heights. One of the biggest advantages of Instrument 1 over the Jamstik Studio MIDI Guitar is due to its differences in playing interface: on the Instrument 1, it's possible to extract true pressure data from each touch, a feat not possible on the Studio MIDI Guitar.

Preset C (Poly Pitch Bend): This preset allows outputting each key’s message on its own MIDI channel (Channel rotation). You can also think of this preset as having 10 pitch-bend wheels for your 10 fingertips.

GETTING STARTED

Another thing I need to mention is that the “ Bend” button is not that expressive for me. Not really sure if it’s me who has messed up the settings, but even after I had expanded the range of it via QuNexus editor, it still felt a bit narrow in terms of range. Keyboard and piano players might find QuNexus‘s keys a bit difficult to adapt as they have been already spending their time on regular-sized keys on their instruments. In its first few years, MPE was slow to catch on. Thankfully, that is different now—since its official adoption into the MIDI specification, its features have been standardized and even more software and hardware companies are starting to take advantage of its unique expressive potential. And now that MPE support is built into most major electronic production-oriented DAWs (including Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, Apple Logic Pro, and more), we can expect to hear it cropping up in forward-thinking music from here on out. What is MPE Good For?

Of course, if you're a keyboard player, you might find more immediate use from the compact QuNexus, or even from the larger and more feature-rich K-Board Pro 4—KMI's current flagship controller, designed to provide a powerfully expressive keyboard playing experience. KMI's K‑Board Pro 4 offers one of the most cost-effective ways into the enticing world of MIDI Polyphonic Expression. My Midas Venice 320 endcaps are fine but they are just hard plastic so no issues there.I think that is the case here... You can also use a similar approach and connect your QuNexus to MIDI hardware by powering it via your computer. You will also need to get yourself the MIDI Expander. If you're active in the music production sphere, odds are that you've heard about MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) —over the last few years, it's caused quite a buzz. Even if you haven't used it before, you likely have a basic understanding: MPE is an extension of the standard MIDI protocol that represents expanded opportunity for expressive electronic music production and performance. The front panel also houses a tiny (and, actually, not particularly usable) pitchbend pad, two octave shift buttons and five multifunction buttons" Preset B (Press + Tilt): Pressure is set to modulation, and Tilt is set to pitch bend. Prepared for a more exciting and expressive playing experience. With the MIDI controller market so saturated, it takes a lot to stand out. That’s not to suggest that there’s anything wrong more traditional offerings – most of us still need standard keyboards, faders and pad controllers from time to time – but with so many great options already on the market, it takes a lot to offer something truly unique. Keith McMillen Instruments specialises in exactly that.

Here at Perfect Circuit, we've seen a ton of inventive MIDI controllers over the years that embrace the expressive potential of MPE, short for MIDI Polyphonic Expression. These are often controllers that look nothing like instruments of the past, and go all-in on a forward-thinking mindset in function and aesthetics. Yet somewhere in the middle, there lies a happy medium between the bold, new sounds of the future and the familiarity of existing controllers. Both devices are USB powered, and work out of the box with any music software on a computer or tablet. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. The QuNeo has been on the market the longer of the two units. It’s iPad-sized and features a 4×4 grid of pads plus a range of more unusual pads and sensors: horizontal and vertical ribbon controls, two circular touchpads which act a little like rotary controls, and a scattering of additional buttons and touch sensors. QuNexus is the first keyboard controller to unite four generations of synthesis: MIDI, Control Voltage, OSC and USB. Preset D (Drums & Clips): Lastly, this preset is designed for triggering drums and clips when particular VSTis or software are mapped to the general MIDI standards. QuNexus Editor
