About this deal

Our goal is to build upon and consolidate the great work already being done by other community members across various forums, reddit threads, and hobby blogs, and bring together a comprehensive library of all these useful Build Instruction booklets. I always put a coat of Agrax Earthshade over the wood surfaces. The second “brown” darkens it down giving the result a nice amount of definition without … well … I just haven’t tried Nuln Oil over Baneblade Brown I’ve been drybrushing Rakarth Flesh over the Stirland Mud bases and sometimes Mechanicus Standard Grey stones - but I’d argue Corax White is better for the later. Issue 23 / Liberators and Prosecutor (B Sprue) I finished deployment first and had priority, but gave him first turn to prevent an early double turn opportunity. The Summary All enemy units suffer -1 Bravery within 6″ of a Nighthaunt unit. Your units are mostly melee based so you’ll be in melee range most of the time, nice little buff that will help get a few extra models but it wont change the game by itself. Deathless Spirits

Shrieking Blade –-1 to hit the bearer with melee weapons. Good protection as while your Heroes aren’t affected by rend you cant improve their save either, so you need to find other ways to protect them B+ I am a competitive minded player, and have trouble toning down my nature when it comes to making lists and playing games. I wanted to bring an army that I could have fun optimising, without necessarily worrying about having to take my foot off the gas because the list was too strong. In the end I settled on Nighthaunt – they’re an army that’s typically been bottom third of armies in the game in second, and 3rd edition has neither been kind nor unkind to them. I’m playing with Reikenor’s Condemned, as they provide a suite of useful buffs to chain rasps and a nice utility artefact.

Nighthaunt

There’s supposed to be another Chainrasp Horde on the way - you can see the not-blue ones in the promotional art. Chainrasp champions are known as Dreadwardens - the wardens of unrepentant souls. The candles they bear are like beacons to the spirits under their charge, casting a dread light that the Chainrasps believe will lead to their freedom. In fact, it is this eerie glow that helps bind the impenitent to eternal servitude. The Chainrasps may have thought death would be an escape from their terrible imprisonment, but truly, it was only the beginning. [1b] Wargear [ ] First released as a foot character Harbinger with Malign Portents, we now have a mounted version of the Knight of Shrouds.

Hard to recommend as their role in your army isn’t terribly clear. They don’t get the size of Chainrasp Hordes, the rend of Grimghast Reapers or the speed of Hexwraiths. They get to reroll all hits if they charge or were charge but have a mediocre (For Nighthaunts) 6″ movement. You can likely substitute anything with a more specialized role and do better. Bladegheist Revenants The first thing I noticed upon opening this box, is the large amount of spindly pieces and fragile looking weapons. As is the way with most nighthaunt models, fragile is the name of the game; so be careful when removing the sprues from the box.I found it much simpler than the Jailor and Chaingasts but I did end up with a large and noticable seam. Mannfred was running wild after a slow start, giving the army a much needed threat that helped score bonus Monster points, give my opponent a headache with his teleport and go for the throat when needed with his ludicrously fast movement. Mortal Realms seems to call these “A sprues”“Reinforcements” so you can plan your stuff like that I guess … I will.

Add 1 to hits for the Lord Executioner and -1 to hit him. This would be…fine if the Lord Executioner wasn’t the focus as the Spirit Hosts are and will remain the star of the show. Death Stalkers Although there are much better battleline units to use with the new edition rules and battletome, chain rasps are a great way to use up any spare points. What’s more, they are a great tactical entry point to the nighthaunt army if you want to experiment with playstyles. All Death armies have a 6+ Feel No Pain save when wholly within 12″ of a friendly Hero. This is yours. From the Underworlds They Come

Nighthaunt.

Lightshard of the Harvest Moon –Pop this once per game. Once you do every unit within 12″ can reroll failed hits. Crazy good with the right timing, but you need to manage the aura around the Guardian of Souls. B+ Cloak of the Waxing Moon –Makes the bearers feel no pain a 5+ instead of a 6+. Decent though you get better artefacts. B
